Christmas Oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach uniquely combines the intimate and monumental, spiritual and secular as well as narratives from different gospels about the events of Jesus’s birth. The Christmas Oratorio returns to the City Orchestra’s program after a break of many years, and the finest Finnish Bach singers are heard as soloists. In the atmospheric Mustasaari Church, in the middle of Christmas rush, a soothing oasis with the most beautiful music imaginable arises.
